A Mann-Whitney U test (sometimes called the Wilcoxon rank-sum test) is used to compare the differences between two independent samples when the sample distributions are not normally distributed and the sample sizes are small (n <30). It is considered to be the nonparametric equivalent to the two-sample independent t-test.
A kisebb U B értéket figyelembe véve a Mann–Whitney-táblázatban a két elemszám segítségével láthatjuk, hogy a kritikus intervallum a 34-64 közötti rész. Tehát azt látjuk, hogy U értéke kívül esik a kritikus intervallumon, tehát szignifikánsan különbözik a két csoport 0,05-ös szignifikancia szint mellett.

Your variable of interest should be continuous and your 2 groups should have similar values on your variable of interest. 2018-12-22 The Mann-Whitney U test is used to compare differences between two independent groups when the dependent variable is either ordinal or continuous, but not normally distributed. The Mann-Whitney U test is a nonparametric test that allows two groups or conditions or treatments to be compared without making the assumption that values are normally distributed. So, for example, one might compare the speed at which two different groups of people can run 100 metres, where one group has trained for six weeks and the other has not. 2017-05-04 Natur & Kulturs Psykologilexikon. Statistics: 2.3 The Mann-Whitney U Test Rosie Shier. 2004. 1 Introduction The Mann-Whitney U test is a non-parametric test that can be used in place of an unpaired t-test. It is used to test the null hypothesis that two samples come from the same population (i.e. have the same median) or, alternatively, whether observations in one
1.3. The Test The Mann‐Whitney U test initially implies the calculation of a U statistic for each group. These statistics have a known distribution under the null hypothesis identified by Mann and Whitney (1947) (see Tables 3 to 8). Mathematically, the Mann‐Whitney U statistics are The Mann-Whitney U tests the null hypothesis ‘There is no difference between the leg ulcer free weeks for the Clinic group compared to the group receiving the standard treatment’. The null is rejected if the p-value for the t-test is less than 0.05.
3. In statistics, the Mann–Whitney U test (also called the Mann–Whitney–Wilcoxon (MWW), Wilcoxon rank-sum test, or Wilcoxon–Mann–Whitney test) is a nonparametric test of the null hypothesis that, for randomly selected values X and Y from two populations, the probability of X being greater than Y is equal to the probability of Y being greater than X.

The Mann–Whitney U test is based on the common rank ordering according to ascending magnitude of all observations from two samples, say A with size N 1 and B with size N 2, and counts for each observation from B by how many observations from A it is preceded; test statistic U equals the sum of these counts (for simplicity, we ignore the possibility of ties).
Discussion. Generally, is a good idea to apply the Mann-Whitney U test during the Exploratory Data Analysis part since we can get an idea of which variables may be significant for the final machine learning model and the most important thing is that since it is a non-parametric test, we do not need to make any assumption about the distribution of the variables.
